EGC’s $2000 exhibition event on the Return of Rome DLC for Age of Empires II DE drew to a close and we’d like to congratulate TaToH on a stunning win!

This event saw the eight invited players (Hera, DauT, ACCM, Saymyname, TaToH, Kyo, Cool and VerteX battle it out over a two day single elimination bracket. DauT got off to a hot start defeating Hera 3-0, Saymyname then beat his compatriot ACCM 3-1. Before TaToH defeated Kyo 3-1 and Cool edged out Peruvian VerteX 3-2.

This took us to Sunday where some great games were in stall, and Winston Waffles (one of the developers of the game) and our stalwart commentator Lidakor talked us through the action as Saymyname made light work of DauT and TaToH pulled off what some considered an upset as he beat CooL 4-2. Interestingly and perhaps unsurprisingly, this lead to a final in which both players were experienced in both Age of Empires I and Age of Empires II.

The finals were a pulsating seesaw affair and saw TaToH race to a 2-0 lead after playing Gold Mountain and Sahara. But Saymyname was in no mood to get steamrolled and pulled himself back to 2-2 with victories on Alliance and Citadel. With the match delicately poised TaToH got himself back into the lead before Saymyname pulled it back to a decider. In another closely fought game, this time on Mediterranean, TaToH pulled off the win and thus took down the whole event. Congratulations to the victor and we’ll see you again soon on the Return of Rome Battlefield!

We’ll be streaming this event live on Twitch each day at 17 GMT and we’ll have some true S-Tier talent of Winston Waffles (an AOE1 dev!) and Lidakor commentating this event for us.

We’re super excited to be announcing the 8 invited players, so watch this space!
