What is the EGC Masters Series?

The EGC Masters Series is the first global esports circuit in Age of Empires IV, featuring the best players from around the world. Each major event in Age of Empires IV will award a qualifying seat to the circuit’s final event, with EMS points awarded for players who reach the main stages.

Then, the EMS points will be used as a metric for seeding in later tournaments. And the best players at the end of the circuit will qualify for the EGC Masters Finals!

The EGC Masters Fall format

The top eight players from the EGC Masters Series standings are directly invited to the main event. Eight more players will qualify and advance to the next stage on September 13th and 14th.

For this edition, we are changing the draft process, for the best-of 7 and best-of 9. In the best-of 7, players will have two bans and will be able to pick up to eight civilizations each. In the best-of 9, there will be no bans, and all civilizations will be picked!

The Open Qualifiers

Classical format at EGC, a single-elimination format with a maximum of 128 players per day. Players will be split into four pools, and the winner of each pool will qualify for the Main Event. A total of 8 players will join the Main Event from the open qualifiers.

The Main Event

The main event will be played similarly to the EGC Masters Winter. There will be two stages; the first will be a GSL-style group stage, and the final stage will be the Playoffs in a double-elimination format.

The Group Stage

First, there is a GSL-style group stage. We will split sixteen players into four groups. The top two players from each group will advance directly to the final stage, the Playoffs. The remaining players will be eliminated from the competition.

All matches will be broadcast on the main channel.

The Playoffs

Then, as for the EGC Masters Winter, the Playoffs will be played in a double-elimination format with eight players. However, we have made slight changes to the schedule and the format. The Lower Bracket – Semifinal will now be played as a best-of 5 series, and both finals will be played on the same day, making a total of three series on the last Saturday. There will also be a potential rematch in the Grand Final if the player coming from the Lower Bracket wins the best-of 9 series!
