Elite Gaming Channel is delighted to announce the Elite Classic of Age of Empires IV. An exciting and innovative event, the Elite Classic is sure to provide some of the best gameplay ever seen in the Age of Empires IV esports scene!
There will be open qualifying on 20th and 21st of May and the Main Event will be for 16 players. The first 5 days of the Main Event will be a league in which every player, plays every player! These league days are played out within a fixed 7 hour period on Saturdays and Sundays, just like how our brackets work for our other events. While the amount of gameplay will not be overly onerous on any given day for each player (three Bo3’s), it will create a feast of entertainment for fans, getting to see so many varied matches. Our own broadcast will be an exciting show, taking you around the league, and bringing you fun from all over the matches! We decided on this format for a number of reasons that we feel will benefit both the players and audiences:
Unlike Golden League where players outside of the top few risked repeatedly getting knocked out early, every player is guaranteed at least 15 matches and we will get more potential for breakthroughs. Lower ranked players will enjoy plenty of balanced games to prove their credentials.
The matches in Elite Classic will be a mainly in an ‘old-school’ classical format. While we may make some rule changes if we determine an area detrimental to competitiveness, generally the event will not have the type of complex rulesets the audience will have seen in Golden League. There will however be no mirrors, and no water maps, and we aim for the event to more closely resemble play on the ranked ladder.
